In recent years, healthcare jobs in Lebanon have faced critical challenges. Some factors are due to the global outbreak of the coronavirus earlier in 2020, while others are attributed to the local Lebanese economic crisis. So, what are the major drawbacks on the health sector? Keep reading to discover several highlights about the issue.

Economic Crisis and the Healthcare Jobs in Lebanon

The economic crisis had the greatest impact on healthcare jobs in Lebanon. It obliged hospitals to raise the pricing of their services, and as a result, hospitalization became inaccessible for the majority of citizens. After all, a patient who has no insurance, cannot afford to pay the hospital’s bill. Thus, the number of hospitalized patients declined.

Lack of Resources and the Healthcare Jobs in Lebanon

In general, the soaring price of the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar versus the Lebanese lira had a significant impact on the health sector. On one hand, purchasing the same quantity of imported medical supplies from abroad has become nearly impossible. This has resulted in a significant decrease in the number of medical resources available in clinics, pharmacies, or hospitals.

On the other hand, fuel oil and diesel are needed to operate the machines in operation rooms and air conditioning systems in hospitals. Thus, the lack of fuel and electricity resources was a major obstacle for the health sector.

Migration and the Healthcare Jobs in Lebanon

Because of inadequate salary rates, the majority of those employed in the health sector are seeking jobs abroad. Thus, there is a great need for health professionals to fill open positions in healthcare jobs in Lebanon. Whether nurses, doctors, surgeons, or even medical staff, Lebanese public and private hospitals sure require a great number of experts to re-establish this sector!
