It obliged hospitals to raise the pricing of their services, and as a result, hospitalization became inaccessible for the majority of citizens. After all, a patient who has no insurance, cannot afford to pay the hospital’s bill. Thus, the number of hospitalized patients declined.

In general, the soaring price of the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar versus the Lebanese lira had a significant impact on the health sector. On one hand, purchasing the same quantity of imported medical supplies from abroad has become nearly impossible. This has resulted in a significant decrease in the number of medical resources available in clinics, pharmacies, or hospitals.

On the other hand, fuel oil and diesel are needed to operate the machines in operation rooms and air conditioning systems in hospitals. Thus, the lack of fuel and electricity resources was a major obstacle for the health sector.

Migration and the Healthcare Jobs in Lebanon

Because of inadequate salary rates, the majority of those employed in the health sector are seeking jobs abroad. Thus, there is a great need for health professionals to fill open positions in healthcare jobs in Lebanon.
